Got a few more shelves up today. Nothing is fastened or glued yet; I'm putting that off for another day or so until I get the bulk of the thing built, to make sure everything lands where I want it to before I start locking everything into place permanently. Otherwise...business as usual, and the amount of sawdust I'm generating on a daily basis borders on the absurd. Carving out 52 dados - which is what had to be done to build what you see in the pic - will do that.
It's a pretty ugly structure to this point, and not much more than a series of plywood boxes (and this is only 1/3 of what's getting built). In the next week or so it'll all get a poplar face frame, window seats, something above the windows, baseboard and crown, and hopefully the plywood box look will be a distant memory. So far I'm pretty pleased with how level, plumb and square I've been able to get everything, but I know I'm one misread tape or one squirrelly jig away from throwing the whole system out of whack...which means it's all very much a slow-and-steady-wins-the-race process.
